Summary/Abstract: In our world, life goes faster, the flow of information increases, so stereotypes acquire a greater importance for the normal function of the society and the individual who is part of it. The way of emerging of sex role stereotypes and their basic characteristics are analyzed. An accent is put on specificities of one of the most popular stereotypical subtypes — that of "women managers". A review is presented of series of empirical studies, which reveal the influence of sex role stereotyping on the attitude toward professional career of women on leading positions in the organizational hierarchy.
