The Shadow of Homosexuality Hovers over Macedonia

Summary/Abstract: A spectre is haunting Macedonia - the spectre of homosexuality. All the powers of conservative Macedonia have entered into a holy alliance to exorcise this spectre: the Macedonian Orthodox Church, the Islamic community, the ethno-nationalist’s political parties, even the former President of the Republic of Macedonia. In the following contribution, I will illustrate how these political “ghostbusters” were supported by a few public opinion-makers who offered “irrefutable arguments” against homosexuality, against human rights of non-heterosexuals, and even against the very concept of human rights.
