Summary/Abstract: An important Romanian locus of identity, Bellu Cemetery transcends the fine line between death and life, and appears as the source of many popular stories in urban mythology. The paper aims at recording some of those, without any intention of proclaiming them false or true, for the main purpose of their presence is to underline how a seemingly dead place, like a cemetery, can reverberate into the social psyche. The paper also contains a short history of the cemetery, which serves as a means of better stapling the flow of the stories into a certain era’s psychology.
