Summary/Abstract: The article examines the transformations in historical expert witnessing in the early Holocaust-related trials. On the example of the Eichmann case and the Frankfurt Auschwitz trial, it tracks a shift in the historical expertise from the role of authentication of documents to the role of contextualization of cases, as experienced in the course of those proceedings.
