Summary/Abstract: A new approach to the conduct of economic activity manifests in a conscious approach of actors of economic life to social liability. Conducting economic activity based on clear relations with all parts interested (concerned) in the activity is competitive advantage. As it happens, ethical codes are an element that in practice encourages stakeholders to cooperate as well as it attracts valuable employees. The creation of ethical codes is the simplest but at the same time a good way to provide internal and external stakeholders with information about norms which are obligatory in a given firm and accepted manners in key areas of a company. The article analysis the approach of businessmen from small and medium enterprises to the problem of creation and spreading ethical codes in their firms.
