Summary/Abstract: Stanisław Grochowiak’s poetic pieces not infrequently offer a discussion on woman inthe linguistic facet of poetic communication. Female individuality, limited as it appears in these poems, is only existent in words, daydreams, commands and/or wishes expressed by the narrative subject. In the artistic space of the Grochowiak works, woman appears not as an individual to be spoken or written about. Instead, woman can be ‘spoken’ and ‘written’. The poet imbues life into a figure that merely forms a language-based, or linguistic, being, an entity that is saved in the word and conforms to a male fantasy. Speaking, writing, daydreaming and commanding are promoted in this poetry to the rank of performatives.
