Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the features of spelling of the handwritten Gospel of St. John in the Udmurt language. The graphic and elements of spelling used in the Gospel are based on those of the first Udmurt grammar printed in 1775 under the title ”Sotshinenija принадлежащiя къ грамматикe вотскаго языка” (Works applying to the Udmurt language).
