Summary/Abstract: This article brings information on the statistical survey of the Union of Students in Higher Education in Brno, which was carried out at all institutes of higher education in the Region of Moravia and Silesia in 1946. Its results are commented and evaluated especially with respect to a then ongoing debate on the regulation of numbers of students in institutes of higher education. The study is a partial output of a grant project of the Grant Agency of the Czech Republic on The System, Policies, and Character of Czech Higher Education in 1945–1969.
