Summary/Abstract: An outstanding personality of the contemporary Romanian historiography, Alexandru Lapedatu (1876-1950) honored by his presence the Romanian Academy, where he was appointed in 1910 as a corresponding member and in 1918 as a full member. For three decades and a half, he has been carrying on an intense activity in the frame of Romania’s most remarkable scientific and cultural forum. Historian by vocation, Alexandru Lapedatu delivered numerous dissertations and interventions referring to the important problems of the Romanian people’s history, most of them subsequently published in the Memories of the Historical Section. A moment if deep significances for him, as a member of the Romanian Academy, the 2nd of June, 1923, of the reception speech regarding the Transylvanian Romanian Historiography in connection with Romanian People’s Political Life Beyond the Carpathians, on which he was answered by Ioan Bianu. Alexandru Lapedatu interwove his scientific activity with that of an organizer, by involving himself, during the 15 years of his presence at the head of the Romanian Academy as a president (1935-1938), vice-president (1934-1935, 1938-1939) or as a general secretary (1939-1940), in all the important problems of the institution in whose history he inscribed one of the brightest pages.
