Summary/Abstract: This paper analyses the evolution of the assets owned by the Moldavian chancellor Mihail (Mihu) over two well defined periods of time: the period before the reign of Stephen the Great and the years of the rule of the same Moldavian prince. Chancellor Mihail was a powerful boyar and dignitary during the first interval, when he got numerous privileges and properties, but he was also involved in political intrigues that affected his position during the reign of Stephen the Great. He was forced by circumstances to flee to Poland, where he also succeeded to have a remarkable influence through Polish support. Stephen the Great wanted him to return to Moldavia and sent to him four “free passage letters”, but he refused them.
