Summary/Abstract: The global financial crisis has caused in recent years a lot of serious economic and social problems in different regions of the world. Particularly dangerous and severe implications of the crisis have been observed in many European countries, especially with reference to the euro zone members. For this reason it is worth paying special attention to the International Monetary Fund’s activity in the time of the financial crisis in Europe. As a consequence of this conclusion the main research aim of the present paper is to outline the most important aspects of IMF functional accommodation to the global crisis as well as to present its participation in stabilization and recovery processes in Europe. It is also necessary to notice that although there are still many controversies connected with IMF’s activities and decisions taken in past decades, this institution is still one of the most crucial international organizations with a global operational potential.
