Summary/Abstract: The article presents the general features of the set of urban toponyms. The specific characteristics related to toponymie stratification are also analyzed, as well as meaning transfer, and the relationship between toponyms and antroponyms. On this basis, the autor has noticed the tendency of urban toponyms towards synthesis and concentration, towards simplification and semantic transparency.
