Summary/Abstract: This article tries to link the traditional logic’s teaching about the informal fallacies and the contemporary analysis of the distortion of rational language in the public speech. In the first part of this text, the most popular fallacies are discussed – such as appeal to pity, appeal to ignorance, fallacy of multiple questions, vicious circle, etc.; some attention is paid to their application in commercials and political campaigns. The second part is dedicated to Jean Baudrillard’s notion of simulacrum and to various types of destruction, which logical argumentation undergoes within the realm of the simulacrum. Tautology, combination of incompatible and coincidence of oppositions, as well as abolition of the principle of the excluded middle are mentioned among others.
