Summary/Abstract: This article includes an overview of the findings of a research on perceptions of judges who judge criminal cases in courts of Bucharest, on the activities developed by the Probation Service nearby Bucharest Tribunal. The research was based on applying a self-applied questionnaire among magistrates, who sought to measure the level of judge’s satisfaction in relation to specific activities of the probation service (preparation of pre-sentential reports, community supervision, assistance and advice of people surveyed), and highlighting some aspects of the problem of individualization of sentences and the probation service influence in this work. Questionnaire results were explored during some interviews with judges, who have sought to clarify or explain the perceptions on the activities developed by the probation service, interaction with the courts and the way in which this service fulfil the professional needs of judges.
