The Brod representatives in the Croatian Sabor in 1861

Summary/Abstract: The lawyer Andrija Torquat Brlić and tradesman Jovan Popović were representatives of the town of Brod in the Croatian Parliament in 1861. As representatives of the Croatian Military Border, well acquainted with general circumstances obtaining there, they fought before the Parliament that the military system be dismantled and the Croatian Military Border reunited with Croatia. Both were advocates of the public law ideas of the Popular Party. A.T. Brlić was especially active in that regard. Among other things, he headed a group of representatives from the Croatian Military Border in the Croatian Parliament to the audience with King Franz Joseph I, with a mission to have the military system dismantled and the Croatian Military Border, as part of Croatia's territory, placed under the jurisdiction of the Croatian Constitution.
