Summary/Abstract: The choreographer Assen Manolov played a key role in the development of ballet in the theaters of Varna, Stara Zagora and Rousse. The longest and most productive was his stay in Rouse. But in general little is known about the creative work of Assen Manolov. The text presents unpublished up to now information about his stay in Rouse. Attention is focused on a couple of important key points of his creative work: the first stage productions in Rouse; the formation of a ballet ensemble; new creative solutions of classical ballets - Gisele, Swan Lake, The Nutcracker; modern ideas - New Odyssey; ballets based on Bulgarian stories - The Madara Horseman, Haidushka Song. The aim is to seek the distinctive characteristics in the creative manner of the choreographer Assen Manolov by placing the accent on his longest and most productive period - that in Rouse and to mention only some of his other creative activities - at the Operetta Theater in Sofia, Stara Zagora and Varna.
