Summary/Abstract: This article aims to explain the process of establishing connections between the fantastic and the real dimension in a less typical literary example of a vengeful apparition. In the chosen text, every step of the artistic process respects the structure of a séance. Gradually, the boundaries of the pictorial space are eliminated and the character of the painter takes the role of a psychic mediating between the spirit and the family, as a reminiscence of the ancient perception of the image as an in-between life and death.
