Summary/Abstract: The majority of foreign working capital was put into green-field investments or into joint ventures with Hungarian partners. Even if scattered negative experiences were seen, there is a wide consensus that FDI was the main vehicle of structural change of the economy. Multinationals in general have positive impact on enterprise culture in Hungary. They bring technology, management skill, renew work organisation and develop work culture. It is a question however, what their role was in the transformation of enterprise cultures and industrial relations. Can we regard (European) multinationals as transmitters of European social values and co-operative management patterns? Do they have an essential role in the Europeanisation of working relations? These are the main questions to be covered in this study.
