Summary/Abstract: To catch a criminal, you have to think like one! A criminal personality profile is an educated attempt to provide investigative agencies with specific information as to the type of individual who would have committed a certain crime. It involves the preparation of a biographical sketch based upon information taken from the crime scene and victimology, which is then integrated with known psychological theories. The profile can be a valuable tool in identifying and pinpointing suspects; however, it must be noted that the profile has its limitations. The psychological analysis of the crime consists in analyzing the way the perpetrator applies his intelligence , sensitiveness, motivation and will to preparing, committing the crime and to the attitude towards the crime. Given the premises, the „forensic psychologist is always ahead of his time; he appears now and then in the forensic structures of law enforcement from all over the world, he does what he has to do for that time and place and then suddenly disappears, leaving a trail of laser intuition behind; as time passes by, he becomes legend”.
