Summary/Abstract: Human violence represents one of the recurrent themes of contemporary societies. Preoccupation towards violent manifestations, dilemmas regarding the growth of criminality and its causes and the strategies of preventing and combating these phenomena represent reflection subjects for opinion leaders, politicians, journalists, researchers from various domains of social sciences and in particular for specialists in education. Forced marriage is a marriage in which one or both of the parties is married without his or her consent or against his or her will. A forced marriage differs from an arranged marriage, in which both parties consent to the assistance of their parents or a third party (such as a matchmaker) in identifying a spouse, although the difference between the two may be indistinct. The United Nations views forced marriage as a form of human rights abuse, since it violates the principle of the freedom and autonomy of individuals.
