Summary/Abstract: The present article presents the actual tasks of Catholic communication within the Roman Catholic Church both on international and local level. The author presents the basic documents of Catholic communication, Inter mirifica, Communio et progressio and Aetatis novae, and the main ideas that structure the theology and practice of communication within the church. The document on communication of the diocesan synod of the Alba Iulia archdiocese name some basic realities that can shape the local communication policy of the church. The author points out the importance of the pastoral planning in communication, and the necessity of a structured communication programme of the local church in order to know exactly what to expect from the media, but also what information to offer in order to be presented in a proper way.
