Summary/Abstract: This paper contains framework (sketch) for the research of life and work of Mirko Kosic. The author attempts to provide an answer on the role and place of Kosic in the history of particular scientific disciplines he had worked on. He first gives a brief biography of Mirko Kosic and points out that the restricted or unavailable sources of documentation for particular periods of his life constitute the main problem in reconstructing Kosic's biography. This is particularly true for the periods of German occupation (1941-1944) and his post - WW 2 emigration. After a brief overview of ideology and political activities of Mirko Kosic, the author analyzes his scientific work in the two fields, economy and sociology. The author reaches the conclusion that Kosic is an interesting and didactic example of a talented man who failed to achieve as much as one could have expected from him in any field, which in no way implies that his work, especially his scientific work, lacks particular weight and value. Kosic begun writing significant scientific works at an early age, but he stopped creating them far too early. In the politics and ideology he failed to build any political organisation, and his ideological beliefs failed to draw a wider support. He was a too volatile personality, even a „turn-coat", to reach more lasting influential results, which does not imply that he failed to leave his mark, especially in the history of Serbia's social sciences, a mark that cannot be kept erased forever.
