Predicate Logic Baselog - A Business Rules Management System

Summary/Abstract: In order to adapt to ever changing market environment, enterprises should change and evolve. Business rules are the key factor of successfull adaptation and functionality of an enterprise. This paper present key structural and behavioral aspects of enterprise architecture, enterprise model in business rules perspective, definition and basic principles of business rules, as well as its lifecycle within an enterprise decision support processes. An overview of IT approach to business rules management research and technology results are presented. The most popular available software for business rules engines is described. BASELOG system based on a conflict-resolution mechanism is described in the context of extension with predicate logic functions. Using BASELOG system as a business rules management system is analyzed and further improvements are proposed.
