Summary/Abstract: The article offers an analysis of philosophical creation sources by German philosopher Johann Heinrich Abicht (1762–1816), professor of University of Erlangen (1788–1804), later professor of Vilnius University (1804–1816). His creation is almost forgotten nowadays. His creative way started when German philosophy shifted its orientation from Enlightenment philosophy to critical Kant’s philosophy. Although Abicht believed to be a follower of Kant’s philosophy, his connection to criticism was noticeably derogated by the influence of Enlightenment philosophy traditions. The later Kant school’s developmental difficulties had an impact on his creation. Contrary to the tendencies that created idealism after Kant as a result of looking for the way to get out of these difficulties, Abicht limited himself to a moderate revision of Kant’s philosophy. He strictly opposed this revision with idealistic systems that were increasingly manifested themselves (J. G. Fichte’s, F. W. J. Schelling’s).
