NON-PREDICATIVE MOODS OF THE VERB FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF COMPRESSED EXPRESSION

Summary/Abstract: This paper presents an analysis of the non-finite verbal forms in terms of their possibilities of compression. The grammatical features are examined as being used to bring about expressiveness. The corpus that the study is applied on consists of various examples of the Romanian poetry. The findings are grounded on a two-fold view of the non-finite forms of the verb: a stylistic and a grammatical one, the former relying on the latter.
