Summary/Abstract: The year 1956 was a stormy one, not only in Poland and China, but in the entire socialist camp. It was also a very important year in the development of Polish-Chinese relations. That year, Poland was the scene of the Poznañ events and the October Crisis, which led both to tensions in internal affairs and to the intensification of relations with the Soviet Union. Although the attitude adopted by the People.s Republic of China (PRC) during these times of political change and the influence exerted by the Communist Party of China (CPC) on changes in the socialist camp have been arousing the curiosity of historians for a long time, the research into these questions is incomplete.1 Nonetheless, the views and reactions of China in association with these events are known.
