Summary/Abstract: This historical and architectural Cistercian Abbey in Sulejów often were on the cusp of ages. From the 19th century was effectively extinguished. The barren landscape of the Cistercian Abbey falling into disrepair. In 1847 fire broke out that destroyed the Chapter House and used roof truss roof. Between 1875-1891 started the conservation programme, whose activities should be recognised – simply. Carried out restoration works will not protect the Abbey. A breakthrough moment for the history of conservation and restoration of monuments followed in 1909. From 8-10 may in Towarzystwie Opieki nad Zabytkami Przeszłości Conference was held in Warsaw. One of the point sessions was to demonstrate the differences between the concept of conservation and restoration, the latter being crossed through. New restoration plans were to be realized in the Cistercian Abbey of Sulejów in adaptation of the projections for school. In a school provided for, inter alia: library, a collection of and practical sessions, chemical laboratory, a meteorological observatory. The whole project is characterised by functionality. The ambitious project has not been realized due to economic and property rights issues. The state ownership has changed after World War II. Today in school provided for the hotel is located. In November 2012 team Cistercian Abbey was put on the list of historical monuments.
