Summary/Abstract: In this article today’s transformations in the family as an institution are followed, and which transformations, in particular cases, lead to difficulties in its normal functioning. On base of typology of existing family forms, the families in social risk are shown and their basic problems are described. The specific of the family as an object of the social work is clarified.
