To Belong or not to Belong? (to Whom, How and Why?)

Summary/Abstract: -to whom, how and why? – The fragments on structural facts of belonging and the possible second thoughts from the perspective of a minority writer in Vojvodina- The text tends to give themes, validity and scope of writers’ belonging in the fi eld of national literature. Th e examples of Croatian literature in Vojvodina will be in the function of depicting the general point of views and claims. An attempt is going to be made to partly dissolve the very phenomenon of belonging, to warn of its possible kinds and parts and to bring to life the problems that might be hidden behind it. Put differently the question in the title of this text implies the following dilemma: is it worth for the writer to be or not? Regarding the answer, what than?, as far as the writer or the literature is concerned. The answer is both ways not a simple one. We are faced with some interests not primarily connected to the literature and therefore they use it to get something else, very oft en, to literature, not at all important, coming from the world of present political and ideological dimensions of the national.
