Summary/Abstract: A starting point for the research conducted in this paper is the fact that successful project implementation is almost impossible without the use of adequate project management’s information systems, more concretely without the use of adequate project management’s software solutions/packages. Subsequently the main aim of this paper is to offer a detailed insight into the practice of Croatian companies related to general usage of information systems in their business activities and also more concretely to the usage of project management’s specialized software solutions/packages in their projects xxxxxx. In this respect a special questionnaire was design, which offered, through the method of simple random sampling, data from 28 Croatian companies of all sizes. The results of the research conducted are suggesting that that the practice of Croatian companies, related to the use of project management’s information systems, is in significant amount in accordance with the practices of companies from more developed countries. As a specificity of the practice of Croatian companies, related to the use of project management’s information systems, it can be emphasized the generally (too) large orientation of mentioned companies on the Microsoft Project for Windows, as a software solution, which they use primarily in the planning phase of smaller projects within their business activities. Namely, Croatian companies almost identify Microsoft Project for Windows with project management’s information system, which implies the need for further researches and more detailed insights into the usages of this software solution in the light of managing more complex and more demanding projects.
