Summary/Abstract: The most of the theories of the sign involve either two or three elements. The main figures of the two models are Ferdinand de Saussure, in the case of the dyadic model and Charles Peirce, in the case of the triadic model. Plato's semiotics can be conceived starting to his ontology and epistemology. Taking into account the two theories of the sign forenamed, one can say that Plato's semiotic model is triadic, having as its elements Idea, the word and the sensible thing. The analysis of the relationship between the three elements points out their status within Plato's semiotics.
