Summary/Abstract: One of the effects of the recent crisis is a growing interest in Islamic banking as a potential alternative to traditional commercial banking (the so-called conventional banking). An attempt to seek answers to the question about the attractiveness of the Islamic bank’s operating model can be carried out by comparing the most important financial data of the two groups. The comparisons were made using the data from banks operating in the United Arab Emirates during the period of 2007 to 2011. Based on the data, it can be concluded that Islamic banks reported worse results in all analysed dimensions.
