Summary/Abstract: The end of the twentieth century was marked by wars in the SFR of Yugoslavia, which had launched a wave of mass migration of population. Nowadays, as a result of armed conflicts and unstable economic situation, the migration flows include refugees, displaced persons, human trafficking. The situation in the Western Balkans is still precarious, given the still unresolved cross-border conflicts of the past, forced migration and displaced people within the country. The search for a better life in Western Europe is ongoing. The only way to prevent migration can be achieved if the countries where the immigrants come from live better, and this is only possible by raising living standards.
