Summary/Abstract: Hippace, meaning some kind of cheese prepared from the milk of the mare in the language of the Sarmatians, has been performed to be etymologized in disregard of the phonetic and semantic resemblance between the word “hippos” in the meaning of the horse, reputed to be of the so-called Greek origin, and “hipp”, the first syllable of the word “hippace”, hitherto. In this study, the linguistical analysis of the word hippace will be straighten out on the base of the word hipp both semantically and phonetically and it will be shown what the Scythian word for the word horse, that is not mentioned in the written sources, was.
