Summary/Abstract: The article describes the quantitative changes in the ethnic spatial structure of the german (transylvanian saxon) population in the former county of Groß-Kokeln (Nagy-Küküllö, Târnava Mare) on the bases of the population censuses from the middle of the 19th century to 1992. In this period, the saxon population had a loss of 49 000 persons, that means of almost 82 percents. As main causes can be identified emigration, internal migration and, to a much lesser degree, expulsion.Contains five maps, graphics and charts.
