Summary/Abstract: This article describes the Stability and Growth Pact. The author first discusses its rationale, implementation and enforcing mechanisms. Next, she overviews the reform of the SGP which was adopted in 2005, as well as some recent proposals which have been submitted as a consequence of the global financial crisis in order to strengthen fiscal discipline among the eurozone member states.
