Summary/Abstract: Since death is the indisputable destiny of every human being, it is natural for any civilization to care about it, illustrating through its funerary practice and art its own conception of this mystery. For the Jews, death is undeniably linked to the original sin (Gen 3,19). Funerary practices and art, however, are poor (tombs are extremely simple, inscriptions are rare and decorations are absent) for centuries, reflecting the view that death includes the passage in Sheol, the reign of silence and silence. oblivion. It is only through the crystallization of faith in the resurrection that Judaic funerary art develops.
