Summary/Abstract: Victor Mihalyi, the priest of the Diocese of Gherla, metropolite of Blaj. The commemoration of the 90th anniversary of the death of Metropolitan Victor Mihalyi de Apşa provides an opportunity to re-read and clarify some aspects still discussed in the biography of the illustrious prelate who died in the early 20th century. The article focuses on the links with the Eparchy of Gherla and three illustrious bishops of the same: Ioan Alexi, Ioan Vancea de Buteasa and Iuliu Hossu. We try to clarify aspects concerning the period of study in Rome of the young Victor Mihalyi. The author proposes to evoke also a page of the history of the Greek Catholic Church in moments of struggle for the affirmation of its national and ritual identity, in the local and international context of Transylvania in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
