Summary/Abstract: The Author undertakes an attempt to analyze a phenomenon of human work. He suggests that a great interest in work finds its source, among other reasons, in noticeable threats referred to it. This interest may also emerge from a fact that work is evidently related to man himself. The Author raises such questions as: Does contemporary man use work well and realize himself in it? Is work really a good of man? Does contemporary man really understand work well? The aim of the article is to indicate how to understand work properly, how to protect it against threats that appear around it, what is work at all, and why does it exist rather than not. The phenomenon of human work is presented from the philosophical perspective that allows to decide what work is and where a reason of its existence should be sought.
