Summary/Abstract: A Woman Poet in Times of Distress: Nina Cassian. This paper follows Nina Cassian’s poetry on three defining dimensions – the antifascist and antiwar commitment, the ironic anticommunist commitment, and the American exile – in order to show that in times of distress, poetry records the ideological conversion of an individual who can be labeled disloyal, but not insincere.
