Summary/Abstract: When I began work at Stanford in January 2001, I was given a tour of Technical Services, including the Acquisitions and Cataloging Departments. My colleagues told me Stanford no longer had any cataloging backlog. They then proceeded to show me how they managed to do that. The organization that I saw then and that is there today is the result of a large and painful budget cut and reorganization that took place in the mid-1990s.
