The investigation of common themes that underline the dimensions of psychological time

Summary/Abstract: In the present study we investigate the patterns of correlation between the components of psychological time. This procedure will allow us to identify the common themes that underline them and also to reveal possible redundancies of the concepts used. The study employed 520 participants, 260 females and 260 males. The components of psychological time were identified using the following instruments: Time perspective inventory (Romanian version), Temporal experience questionnaire (Romanian version), Temporal structure questionnaire (Romanian version), and the scale of perceived control over time (a subscale of the Time Management Behavior Scale). Results showed that the subjective experience of time contains three underlining themes: (a) cognitive, (b) behavioral, and (c) affective. Furthermore, it was shown that there are no redundancies regarding the components used to represent psychological time.
