Newly discovered church near Rakitovo (Preliminary notes)

Summary/Abstract: The article is a scientific announcement on the archeological excavations of a medieval fortress carried out in August 2009 in the area “Kulata- Gradot” around Rakitovo. The preliminary notes are restricted to presenting the results of the work related to the excavation of the medieval church inside the fortress, as well as to making an inventory of some of the more valuable artifacts. The text comprises also an explored source and interpretation literature and thus represents a foundation of an assessment of the work which was carried out, while aiming at the same time at outlining some of the tasks for the continuation of the archeological research during the next season.
