Summary/Abstract: The "national character" of a community does not arise from its temperament and race, but from the cultivated "style of thinking". Polish national philosophy was formed in the times of argument about democracy in the Church ("conciliatorism"). Along with the domination of nominalists there appeared the contours of an "axiological tree" (liberalism, egalitarism, hedonism, pacifism, federalism, activism, practfcism, tolerance, individualism, idiographism). During 600 years since the foundation of the university in Cracov and the Union with Lithuania, Poland has implemented the ideas of conciliatorism - rejected by the Pope and the states of enlightened absolutism, paying huge costs of this way of development.
