ISTRAŽIVANJE PRIVREDNE STRUKTURE I MOGUĆNOST NOVOG ZAPOŠLJAVANJA: SLUČAJ ZENIČKO-DOBOJSKOG KANTONA SAŽET
ECONOMIC STRUCTURE RESEARCH AND CHANCES FOR EMPLOYMENT: ZENICA-DOBOJ CANTON CASE

Summary/Abstract: Adverse labour market trends in Zenica-Doboj Canton- alarming high unemployment rate and continuous decrease of employees in economic activities (with simultaneous increase of employees in non-economic activities), imply negative consequences on the overall socio-economic development of the canton. The economic structure of Zenica-Doboj Canton before war relied only on the industry giants from the branch of heavy industry ( which stopped working or they wait for the process of privatization or reconstruction) without incorporated entrepreneurial-innovative business components, negatively manifested on the process of creation of new working places and the increase of imployment rate in this canton. Although the canton has plenty of available natural resources for faster economic development, their utilization is not on satisfying level. The aim of this work is to analyze the economic structure in Zenica-Doboj Canton in order to find new chances for employment. We identified economic sectors of key importance for future development of the canton and absorption of labour force with respect to Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina by using location quotient.
