The Relationship between Phenomenal Experience and Intentionality

Summary/Abstract: In this paper I will argue that we cannot treat the intentionality of the mind and the phenomenal consciousness separatly in a way to reduce the fi rst and then to claim that the only metaphysically misterious phenomenon left to consider is the latter. This distinction generates many pseudo-problems in the philosophy of mind, more concretely the problem of epiphenomenalism, the doctrine of conscious innessentialism and the problem of the funtional role of consciousness.
