Summary/Abstract: In the locality of Nitra-Lupka there was a cemetery uncovered in the forecastle of the hillfort, as well as two groups of pottery kilns. The kilns were excavated into the loess of the slope in front of the fortification of the hillfort forecastle. Several of them were damaged by deep plowing. Preserved kilns belonged to the two-chamber vertical types, where the calcination chamber was separated from the heating one by a grate. In front of the kilns forekiln pits were located, in which majority of pottery-sherds was found (not in kilns). Pottery kilns were located in different depths and could not operate simultaneously. In several cases remains of the walls of the calcination chamber were found, which made it possible to determine at least the approximate capacity of kilns, i.e. the number of vessels that can be calcinated at once. Considering the relatively large capacity of kilns, the repre¬sentation of these vessels in the micro-region of Nitra is relatively small, even if the presence of vessels in the adjacent cemetery is taken into account. The jewels from the graves suggest the possible origin in the former Yugoslavia.
