Summary/Abstract: The experience of the financial crisis and the economic slowdown are the drivers for the search of new solutions and undertaken actions in the area of company management targeted at the recovery of the economy and the societies’ development. Corporate governance is viewed as one of such directions for the competitiveness increase at the national as well as the company level. Corporate governance is defined as the set of control and incentives mechanisms aimed at the long term creation of the firm value. The article identifies the main corporate governance failures observed during the crisis and confronts them with the implemented reforms and formulated recommendations in order to eliminate these inefficiencies.
