Summary/Abstract: Society is a multilayered, flexible, and structured organism, closely connected with its global environment through bonds of interdependence. Defining the mechanisms of any society in simple yet meaningful terms is hence extremely difficult. Economic mechanisms on the other hand are assumed to be quantifiable to an extent; yet it is equally hard to tell how a country’s economy is doing at any given moment. Some market participants are doing fine while others are not. Certain sectors experience growth even on rainy days. Regional disparities can be large at any given moment, while foreign corporations may prosper at the same time as family firms are struggling. Thus, the “economy” as such is as vague a concept as “society”.
