Summary/Abstract: In April 2008, The Institute of Pragmatics for Communication was founded at Babeş-Bolyai University, with the generous support of Professor Andrei Marga, Rector of this University. The Institute has proposed to conduct interdisciplinary research in the complex fields of pragmatics and linguistic communication, focusing on communicational practices, philosophy and pragmatics, linguistic pragmatics, relation of pragmatics to syntax and semantics, cognitive theories with syntactic, semantic and pragmatic input, and language and identity. To achieve these aims, the members of the Institute have initiated cooperation with researchers and faculty working in linguistics, pragmatics and communication at Babeş-Bolyai University, other Romanian universities, or from abroad.
